The Lord’s Supper (originally called “Meeting By Request”) – A.J. Crick

This sermon by A.J. Crick is the best commentary I have ever encountered on the sacrament we call “The Lord’s Supper” or “Holy Communion.” In order to more fully understand this sermon, it is important to know its background. Mr. Crick was a visiting preacher at a small Plymouth Brethren assembly where two people had been refused communion because they did not belong to that “denomination,” a label which the Plymouth Brethren have historically never wanted to call themselves. The following Tuesday night he preached this sermon with the result that, after years of traveling from England to minister to this assembly and others, he was never asked back.
